Coffee, Cocktails & Comfort Food: Sampling Oxford, Alabama's Tastiest Stops

There’s something about Oxford, Alabama, that hits just right — like your favorite song playing on the radio during a road trip. As the final stop on our small-town tasting tour, Oxford delivered the kind of memorable moments that only come from three things: good coffee, great cocktails, and plenty of comfort food.

Hubbard's Off Main

We kicked things off with a visit to Hubbard’s Off Main, a historic gem where comfort food is the star of the show. This isn’t your typical meat-and-three — it’s Southern elegance wrapped in warmth. The shrimp and grits were creamy, peppery perfection, and the fried green tomatoes had just the right crunch. It’s the kind of place where Sunday supper meets special occasion, and every bite feels like home.

Southern Girl Coffee Co.

From cozy plates to caffeine pick-me-ups, Southern Girl Coffee Co. was our next must-sip stop. Inside, the energy is as bright as the coffee is bold. Between colorful walls and friendly baristas, this spot radiates positivity. Whether you’re a pour-over purist or a caramel-latte lover, Southern Girl has your back. We recommend grabbing a comfy seat and staying a while — the coffee’s great, but the atmosphere is what makes you linger.

The Bank Oxford

Of course, no tour of Oxford would be complete without something a little more refined — and that’s where The Bank Oxford comes in. Nestled inside a beautifully restored historic bank building (yes, the original vault is still there), this restaurant pairs upscale plates with serious cocktail game. Think smoked bourbon drinks, shareable appetizers with flair, and moody lighting that makes you want to dress up — even on a Tuesday. It’s a little luxe, a little laid-back, and a lot of fun.

Spring Street Station

Keeping things casual but full of flavor, Spring Street Station brought us back to the heart of classic comfort. This spot is all about no-frills food done right: juicy burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, crispy fries, and a crew that treats you like family. You won’t find fancy plating here — but you will find big portions, bold flavors, and stories shared across the table. It’s the kind of hometown spot where everyone knows your name — and your go-to order.

Le Coin des Artistes

For a final touch of creativity (and another coffee, because why not?), we visited Le Coin des Artistes — French for “The Artists’ Corner.” It’s a café-meets-gallery space that somehow manages to feel both serene and inspiring. Local artwork lines the walls while soft jazz plays in the background, making it the perfect place to recharge. We nibbled on empanadas, sipped cappuccinos, and soaked up the artistic energy that gives this corner of Oxford its own rhythm. The murals are must-see!

From lattes to lowball glasses and fried green tomatoes to flaky pastries, Oxford gave us a true taste of what small-town Southern flavor is all about. It’s not just about eating well — it’s about how these spots make you feel. Welcomed. Full. Happy.

This town may have been our final stop, but it gave us everything we were looking for. With each bite and sip, Oxford reminded us that good food and drink are really about connection — to a place, a memory, or just the people around the table.

Coffee, cocktails, and comfort food. It’s a simple trio, but Oxford showed us just how rich it can be. We came hungry, left inspired, and we’re already planning our return.
