How often do you get so far out into the dark that you can see alllllll the stars? Roland Cooper is a DARK SKY site with a 2 on the Bortle Scale which means that the stargazing here is spectacular. And you can get in some good fishing. What a great spot!
Where to sleep?
Tiny cabins are a must here but there is also camping and primitive cabins for something different. There are also big cabins as well.
What to do?
Dannelly Reservoir aka Millers Ferry has some great fishing, maybe even some of the best in Southwest Alabama. Launch your boat, enjoy the fishing tournaments, walk the birding trail but definitely stay for the stars.
