This is an incredible collection of music memorabilia and I can guarantee you will find something of interest. I found too many. The tour begins with the portraits of artists who have been inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. Some of the biggest names in music are on those walls… Hank Williams Sr. to Lionel Richie toTammy Wynette to Percy Sledge and Wilson Pickett and let’s not forget the first Country Super Group ALABAMA!!!!!. Y’all I grew up listening to these powerhouses of vocal talent. Didn’t know they were from Alabama, well obviously I knew Alabama was from Alabama. Just knew they sang some of my favorite tunes (Wilson Pickett’s Mustang Sally and Alabama’s Mountain Music are still heavy in my playlist rotation.)

Once you pay your respects in the portrait room, the musical history trail is just beginning. I got to touch a microphone Elvis used, and saw numerous costumes used by groups like the Commodores and the Blind Boys of Alabama… You can even tour the group Alabama’s first tour bus. (The building was built around the bus!!). Of course, there are several things from both FAME Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound Studios at the Hall of Fame which makes it a great place to start your musical tour of The Shoals.

The musical artifacts were impressive, to say the least, and according to the staff, it is always changing. Another fun thing to do at the Music Hall of Fame is to step into the recording studio and experience what it is like to be a recording star. An additional fee applies and y’all don’t have to worry about me having a music career. As the saying goes… I can’t carry a tune in a bucket.
