Athens

15th Annual Athens Sippin’ Cider Festival
Downtown Athens, December 13, 2025 · 3:00–7:00 p.m.
Downtown Athens transforms into a holiday wonderland during the Sippin’ Cider Festival. Merchants along the square offer steaming samples of their own hot cider recipes, from sweet and spicy to bold and citrusy. Visitors can stroll the decorated streets, browse shops, enjoy live music, and vote for their favorite cider to crown the Cider Cup winner. With festive lights overhead and cups of cider in hand, this free, family-friendly event is as cozy and charming as a small-town Christmas should be.

Athens-Limestone Tinsel Trail
Big Spring Memorial Park, Opens November 20, 2025
Big Spring Memorial Park (the beloved “Duck Pond”) glows with rows of live firs, each sponsored and decorated by local businesses, schools, and civic groups. It’s a free, open-air stroll perfect for family photos, especially after dark when the reflections dance on the water. Expect festive unveiling traditions and easy walkability to downtown shops and restaurants.

Athens-Limestone Christmas Parade
Downtown Athens, December 4, 2025 · 6:00–8:00 p.m.
A classic night parade lights up downtown Athens with illuminated floats, marching bands, dance teams, civic groups, and a grand finale visit from Santa. The event is organized by the Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce. Note: candy and other items may not be thrown from floats, and entries are capped for a polished, on-time lineup. Arrive early for parking and the best curbside views.

Ardmore

Ardmore Tinsel Trail & Tree Lighting
Ardmore Town Hall, Date TBA
Ardmore goes full small-town sparkle with a walkable trail of decorated Christmas trees beside Town Hall and The Bryan House. Each tree is sponsored and styled by local businesses, churches, and families. The season kicks off with a community tree lighting at the Town Hall pavilion (often with live student music), and the display stays up all season for free, open-air strolling.

Tuscumbia

Tuscumbia’s It’s a Dickens Christmas Y’all!

Downtown Tuscumbia slips back into Victorian times for this immersive street festival inspired by A Christmas Carol. Expect costumed Dickens characters, “falling snow,” live music, fireside coziness, and Clydesdale carriage rides as shops and vendors line Main Street. Some extras, like the beloved Holiday High Tea, may require tickets, but most of the charm is free to wander, sip, and snap.

The birthplace of Helen Keller dresses in its holiday best as the historic home and grounds glow with live greenery and period touches. Stroll through the 1820 house and cottage for an atmospheric dose of Shoals-area Christmas charm. Presented on the Ivy Green campus with décor curated by local garden clubs, this is a classic, low-key stop for history lovers and festive photo-takers alike.

Hartselle

Hartselle Christmas Parade
Downtown Hartselle, December 11, 2025 · 7:00–8:00 p.m.
Downtown Hartselle lights up as illuminated floats, marching bands, dance teams, classic cars, and first responders roll through for this polished small-town night parade, capped, of course, by Santa. The traditional route runs from J.P. Cain Stadium down Railroad Street to Main Street, making for easy curbside viewing and plenty of photo ops.

A sweet downtown stroll where participating shops set out holiday cookies while you browse for gifts and soak up the small-town sparkle. Ticket sales begin November 1.

Oneonta

Oneonta Christmas Tree Lighting & Market
Gazebo District — November 28, 2025 · 5:00–8:00 p.m. (Tree lighting at 6:00 p.m.)
Downtown Oneonta kicks off the season around the gazebo district with a cozy tree lighting and an open-air Christmas market. Expect free horse-drawn carriage rides, visits with Santa, festive “snow,” live music, and even cheerful firetruck rides, all amid rows of local vendors perfect for gift hunting.

Christmas Spectacular at Palisades Park
Palisades Park — December 1–31, 2025 · 5:00–9:00 p.m.
A car-friendly holiday lights tour with pure small-town charm. Cruise through Palisades Park as cabins, trees, and pathways glow with displays created by local churches, civic groups, businesses, and park staff. On select nights, you may even spot Santa and enjoy refreshments at the Quilters Guild cottage. Admission is free (donations welcomed).

Gadsden

Gadsden Christmas on the Coosa
Riverside Park — November 28–December 23, 2025 (Times vary)
Downtown Gadsden turns Riverside Park into a riverfront winter playground with real-ice skating, glowing tree views, fire pits, food trucks, and Frosty’s cocktail bar. This season adds ice bumper cars alongside the rink, a guaranteed crowd pleaser. Hosted by the City of Gadsden. Skating and rides are ticketed.

Christmas at the Falls
Noccalula Falls Park — November 14, 2025–January 3, 2026 · 4:00–10:00 p.m.
Add in Santa visits, hot chocolate stops, and the animal barn, and you’ve got a marquee holiday outing. Timed-entry tickets are required, and combo passes are offered with Christmas on the Coosa. Kids 3 and under are free.

Centre

Centre Art in the Park: Christmas Edition
Centre City Park — November 8, 2025
Centre City Park turns into a family-friendly maker fair with local artists and crafters, food vendors, and kids’ activities in a relaxed, walkable park setting.

Madison

Rocket City Christmas Light Show & Winter Wonderland

Toyota Field · Madison — November 15, 2025–January 1, 2026 (Times vary)
Home of the Trash Pandas, Toyota Field transforms into a dazzling drive-through light show featuring more than a million twinkling lights synchronized to holiday music. After the drive, visitors can step into Winter Wonderland for s’mores, hot cocoa, holiday treats, and themed activities like ice skating, photos with Santa, and shopping local vendors.

Huntsville

The Orion Christmas
The Orion Amphitheater · Huntsville — Season Opens Late November 2025
The Orion Amphitheater becomes a holiday destination with an immersive light display, Christmas tree village, live performances, themed bars, and weekend markets. The amphitheater’s grand lawn turns into a festive outdoor hub, perfect for photos, cocoa sipping, and strolling with family and friends. Special ticketed concerts and free community nights make this event a blend of cozy and spectacular.
